A cavernous arts bookstore in Downtown Los Angeles.
Since its founding in the early 1960s, Hennessey + Ingalls has grown to accommodate the West Coast’s largest physical inventory of visual arts books—with over 50,000 in-store titles across all areas of art history, architecture, photography and design. The business, established by Reginald Hennessey, started out as a niched retailer of rare and out-of-print architecture titles before expanding its curation, and moving venue twice. Now settled inside a hangar-like former industrial space in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the knowledgeable staff (still headed by Hennessey junior) cater to the creative needs of this booming neighborhood.
