A farmhouse turned studio bordering a rugged moor.

Cath and Jeremy Brown moved their family from London to Devon in 2016, leaving jobs as an architect and at the UN, respectively. There, after buying a secondhand pottery wheel, they set themselves a challenge: to make a 20-piece dinner set for their first Christmas in the countryside. Through trial, error and sheer will, they managed it. Soon after, Feldspar was born: a ceramic and homewares company specializing in elegant, textured pieces ranging from coffee cups to butter dishes. After outgrowing their on-site barn and undergoing a stint firing using the kiln in Jeremy’s mother’s garage, they now have two workshops.
